THE DIVISION: UPDATE 1.1

So, The Division’s first major update dropped today, and, I have to say, I’m more annoyed than happy about it.

While there are parts of the update that make sense to me, there are parts that really don’t make any sense, or more accurately, really fucking piss me off.

To make this all clearer, I’m going to give you a quick run-down of the changes and additions Ubisoft have made in the 1.1 update:

-- The biggest addition they’ve made, and kind of the whole point of the update, was the arrival of ‘Falcon Lost’, the game’s new mission. It’s a new mission that you have to be level 30 to play, and looks like it give you some pretty good rewards, as well as some of the game’s new gear, which is more powerful and focuses more heavily on player skills and stats.

-- Trading is here too, and it’s one of the better ideas. It allows you to share any item you’ve picked up in the last hours with anyone in your group. Sadly though, I don’t think you can craft a weapon you have the blueprint for, then give it to a friend who doesn’t have the blueprint. Ubisoft aren’t that nice.

--Dark Zone Supply Drops are fairly self-explanatory. The only thing worth mentioning is that the goods inside aren’t contaminated, so you won’t have to go through a stressful extraction to use them.

--Assignments are basically daily and weekly challenges. They make up for the daily missions being reduced from 15 Phoenix Credits down to 10. Don’t worry, some of the challenges offer Phoenix Credits as a reward, and can be unlocked whilst playing through the daily missions, so all is not lost.

That is pretty much the end of the good stuff. Now…Y’know:

--Enemies seem a lot harder to kill now. I can see the reason for doing this, but it’s just a bit annoying when you’re in missions, as they take just that bit longer though.

--Crafting Upgrades. We’ve reached the part of the list that’s most irritating. Before the update, 5 Green materials could be upgraded to one Blue material. Five Blue materials could then make one Gold material. Fair enough. Now…Not so much. For those of us who like creating new gear and weapons from Gold blueprints, we’re being pushed into a corner. 10 Greens=1 Blue. 15 Blues=1 Gold. Oh, and to make things worse, you can’t loot Gold materials in the open world now. You have to go through the now even longer upgrade process.

There are about twenty minor bug fixes that arrived as well, but nothing of massive importance. So yeah, that’s The Division’s update 1.1. While the list might lean more favourably towards the good stuff, the altercations to the Crafting Upgrades are really pissing me off. It was fine as it was. Why make it so bloody annoying? Let’s just hope the Falcon Lost mission and the rewards it gives make up for it.
