“No. I am the Children of Arkham!”
Telltale’s Batman is a game that goes from strength to strength. It’s unique way of storytelling based on decisions the player makes means you never really know what lies around the corner.
Episode 3 of the story largely focuses on Harvey Dent’s transformation into the villainous Two Face, both physically and mentally. However, whilst that’s going on, both Bruce Wayne and Batman continue to track down the mysterious Children of Arkham, and their unknown leader.
There was only one part of the episode that didn’t quite work as well as it could’ve done, and unfortunately, that was the reveal as to who was behind the mask of leader of the Children of Arkham. Villain reveals should always be both shocking but should also make sense. And unless you play very close attention to this episode, it really doesn’t. That’s kinda put me in the mind that this reveal might be a red-herring. Hopefully the true mastermind is still at large.
One improvement this episode did make was that there were more Batman fights than the previous episode. This meant less time sitting back and only using one finger to progress the game, and more time actually concentrating on what was happening.
All in all, Episode 3 was a much stronger entrance into the series than Episode 2 was, and the cliff-hangers and new story threads it sets up should mean a great next episode. I look forward to it.
